Jenie Moore by A.D. Amorosi :
If paintings were songs, Jenie Moore's work would be Jay Z's "Hard
knock life", a mix of childish whimsy and populist sampling with
throbbing beat. throughout her colorul paintings, Moore makes cartoonesque
art without been a comic. " I like the sleek power of designer
labels," says Moore " Like raps, it's name-droping on canvas".
Image of Teletubbies, Candyland, Rice Krispies treats and bare-assed
Japanimation figurines mix with studio 54 folk, National Enquirer headlines
and labels insignias to create a surround-sound world that's like channel
/ Chanel surfing. "I am like a DJ sampling records. What I do on
canvas is the best juxtaposition of status symbols, sex objects and
childhood-innocence and perversity-packaged together."
