Philadelphia born John Stango, studied art from 1978 to 1981, first at Temple University and then at Tyler School of Art of Philadelphia, where he received a BFA in Graphic Design & Painting.

He was then window designer of major east cost department stores where he used his first pop-art style paintings as backdrops for window displays. He also started to be famous with his hand silk-screen T-shirt. As his technique became more refined, using pop icons, pop colors, painted through his own perception, he began to emerge in the art community and be shown in several galleries.

Now, even his paintings are showed from New York to Los Angeles, and he is recognized as a National Pop Artist, you still can find his wonderful work in Philadelphia at Mixed Company.
